PPEViewer V2.2 (284)
(Release date: 17/08/2010)
Major release: E2054 Redundant operation
The Viewer now has been
extensively modified to operate on redundant E2054 systems. The
normal viewer functionality for the E2000 products remains the
same with the following exception.
When using this release make sure the
E2000 option is selected.
New stats email:
Previous versions did not clear the
stats except on restart or clicking the reset or backup buttons.
The stats are now reported then cleared
every hour. Each report is concatenated into a single email
which is sent at 1pm every day.
PPEViewer V2.2 (250)
(Release date: 15/01/2010)
Minor release: Changed Satellite decoder operation
Improved Satellite Asynchronous
Decoder
The Viewer now has been
changed to operate with the new MTEL PPE Encoder for satellite
transmission. The Asynchronous data stream has no EOT character
sequence therefore a 300millisecond data absence timer was added
to test for the end of the data stream. The display has been
changed to make the batches more distinguishable.
The previous MC01 device
had NULL markers at the end of transmission, which allowed the
previous version to operate correctly.
The window below shows
the decode and the Batch Control label indicating the data
stream has expired.
The state machine has
been dramatically increased in speed since the bit stuffing for
the MC01 is no longer required. The data runs pure POCSAG decode
in ASCII format with fixed 32 bit boundaries.
Changed System Configuration tab
The system configuration tab has been
changed to make the logging more intuitive. The master root
directory is selectable however the file names for the satellite
decoder and the E2000 monitor are dedicated.
Previous Versions:
27/06/2009
Major release: Added support for remote monitoring of the E2054.
The Viewer now communicates to three
different hardware devices.
- PPE Encoder (Hutchison)
- Satellite Decoder
- E2054 Paging System
The Viewer has been
enhanced to handle remote MTEL paging systems which have the
ability to handle multiple data streams over a single TCP or
wireless broadband connection. The multiple data streams include
a decode of the paging data stream, priority and normal paging
inputs and monitoring of the local paging processor (E2050)
debug data stream. The data streams are multiplexed over the one
data channel and have an embedded protocol to decipher the data
streams.
The protocol is switched
on or off by a single option. Normally the PPEViewer uses the
E2000 Control which only monitors the standard E2050 processor
debug data stream. Select this on start-up and close the program
to save the setting to registry. On the next and future
start-ups the E2000 Control will be selected automatically.
The E2054 Control adds
the new MTEL switch protocol onto the normal data stream. The
PPEViewer will not work if this protocol is selected and it is
directly connected to the PPE. The E2054 Control also enables
the new Messaging tab. This tab only works on the E2054 Paging
Systems at this point in time.
The selection is made in
the System Configuration tab as shown below.
Added Reset WD warning
The reset command to the Processor is
now tested with a message box to ensure the selection is not
made accidentally.
Added Operating System Detection:
The Viewer operates
slightly differently depending on the Windows OS.
A control has been added
to detect this automatically so the program can adjust
parameters depending on the OS at start-up.
Unfortunately it will
require a reinstall if the Viewer has been operating before this
release.
Go to the install page
to get the latest install.

Bug Fixes:
Email Support. Fixed bug where the second and third recipient of the emails in
the AlertMatrix Table were getting no subject or text
information.
Refresh Enhancement.
Made the refresh simpler using just one command button
"Refresh". This button immediately clears the display then when
the response to the command is deciphered it then populates the
fields.
The set clock time is
manually set by the small "S" command button next to the E2050
Clock time display. Whenever the Viewer is connected to the
E2050 the time update is automatically sent to the E2050 every
hour.
PPEViewer V2.2 (203)
27/04/2009
Minor release: Fixed Batch under runs stat
PPEViewer V2.2 (201)
13/03/2009
Major release:
Added Email Support.
See the Email tab
instructions to use this feature.
Added circular backup files.
The backup files are
created daily at 11:30pm and one is created for each date of the
month. If a previous day file exists it is deleted. This simply
means there is a month of backup data at any one time. An
example of the files is shown below.
Added Quick Pick Server Support.
This provides a single click selection to configure the Viewer
to a known profile. The profiles are stored in a simple list and
selecting the profile automatically sets up the Viewer to the
correct port or TCP socket. The table is in the
mtelppeviewer.mdb and
is called "Server".
There are currently no
instructions for this feature. Use Access to change the values
to desired settings. Below is an example of the table.
The information appears in
a drop down list in the PPE Monitor configuration frame as shown
below.
PPEViewer V2.2 (188)
9/10/2008
Removed STATS update every minute.
PPEViewer V2.2 (187)
8/10/2008
The main change in this version is the
addition of the version and frequency information in the E2000
configuration display. Hitting the refresh will display all the
information for E2000 firmware V2.87 and up.
The second change was the merge of the
old Tone Tab into the main PPE Queue tab.
Tone information can be quickly checked
by clicking the T command button in the Queue Totals frame.
The Tone Queue totals are now in the
same frame as the normal queue totals as shown below.
PPEViewer V2.0 (182)
16/9/2008
Warning: Previous versions are now
defunct and are not backward compatible.
Some of the debug has been changed to
improve E2000 internal processing. This meant the debug format
had to be changed, making it incompatible with all older versions
of PPEViewer.
The main change in this version is the
addition of the power monitoring.
PPEViewer V2.0 (170)
1/9/2008 Major changes are.
Warning: Previous versions are now
defunct and are not backward compatible.
Some of the debug has been changed to
improve E2000 internal processing. This meant the debug format
had to be changed, making it incompatible with the older version
of PPEViewer.
The main change in this version is the
addition of the commands to the E2000. These commands provide
PPEViewer interaction with the E2000. Currently these are
- Hardware reset
- Time Set/Request
- E2000 Configuration (currently read
only)
The tone buffer is now visible via the
Tone Queue Tab.
The queue displays time in the queue in
seconds. It also averages the time and displays it along with
the maximum time in queue.
Finally a independent reset and backup
button has been added for manual resetting of the PPEViewer
Counters and times and Queue information.
- Added Tone Queue
Tab.
- New commands to
the E2000.
- New E2000
configuration frame.
- New "Time in Q"
and average TIQ labels.
Other changes include
- Added reset and
backup buttons.
PPEViewer V2.0 (120)
20/5/2008 Minor changes are.
- removed nulls from
the TCP and serial input streams.
PPEViewer V2.0 (119)
20/5/2008 Minor changes are.
- Added separate log
window.
- Displays sequence
numbers.
- Displays commands
between systems.
- Queue display
indicates sync to hardware.
- Added new flooding
batch controls.
The main emphasis on this
release is the display of the sequence numbers. These numbers indicate
the age of the message where the lowest is the oldest number. The new
binary release for the E2050 uses the sequence to decide which baud rate
to start a batch. When the sequence reaches 5000 it is reset back to
200. Messages in the queue are adjusted by this change.
There are also new batch controls. The
new binary release has created two sets of rules. The normal queuing logic as in
previous releases, and now a separate set of rules when the E2050 becomes
flooded with messages.
The separate log window allows the user
to view the queue and the logs simultaneously.
PPEViewer V2.0 (110)
Major changes are.
- Logging is now
optional.
- Logging is now
backed up.
- PPE settings have
been automated.

turned on by config.
(Release date: 6/9/2007)
PPEViewer V2.0 (92)
The PPEViewer satellite decode now
has numeric processing. It appends "Numeric Stg" when it decides the
output is a numeric rather than a Alpha message. The decision is based
on the presence of a "~" in an alpha message.
The program now has some
settings stored in the mtelppeviewer.mdb database. This operates
like a registry of configuration settings. Currently it must reside
in c:\mtelsys. The installer copies it into the current application
directory.
The current settings are for
the satellite serial and TCP inputs, the TCP server output, and
output format check boxes.
The serial configuration has
been changed from a single text box to two text boxes for port and
baud rate. This gives a better range of settings than the previous
style.
The PPEViewer includes the
new commands OSTXING. This packet between the systems indicates to
the state of transmission so that a decision can be made to key up
if priority appears in both systems.
(Release date: 4/9/2007)
PPEViewer V2.0 (90)
The satellite decode now has a TCP
server. There has been a modification to the incoming byte stream to
correct for bit slip. The slip is reset to 0 bits at the start of each
batch and is set by the Sync detection. The debug indicates the level of
slip.
(Release date: 30/8/2007)
Latest PPEViewer V2.0 (89)
Added more debug and FOS (from other
system) and TOS (to other system) indications.
(Release date: 28/8/2007)
Latest PPEViewer V2.0 (88)
Added satbusfile in c:\logs. This
file captures the raw data and has embedded decode from the normal
screen for reference. This file is only intended for the debug of
TCP and serial data streams. It will be disabled by default after
the streams are correctly operating.
The file is opened on
startup and destroys the previous file contents.
(Release date: 27/8/2007)
PPEViewer V2.0 (87)
