Welcome to MTEL Messaging Centre

Overview:

The Messaging Centre is a web based application dedicated to sending messages to the MTEL Connect APP. It is designed to allow users to send messages to their respective groups and use the MTEL Connect APP to gauge responses.

The messaging centre has dedicated user groups and is for authorised personnel only. It is intended to be used as a efficiency tool for coordinating large groups of users. The service is not intended for turnout messaging or messaging to co-ordinate life-threatening events.

The messaging centre can be used with a mobile by browsing to the server site. Using shortcuts of the website on the home screen of the mobile makes it a very accessible and easy too to use. To request the website URL please contact MTEL.

Operation:

  • Enter the Agency. This is allocated to the co-ordinator of the group. Think of it as a password.
  • Enter the Group to send a message. This can be a number or alpha-numeric label. This group name is allocated by MTEL.
  • Enter the appropriate message. (note. the messages are also sent to the relevant Comms Centre)
  • Hit the send button.

When sending messages the author should be cognoscente of its content. It is important that the message content does not conflict with Queensland Privacy Act. (https://www.oic.qld.gov.au/about/privacy)

If an anonymous message is sent to a group and it deemed inappropriate, the co-ordinator should request from MTEL another Agency name.

Note that if Agency or Group name is incorrect the Messaging Centre will not respond with a failure message. The author should re-enter the information again. This is necessary to stop illegal activity attempting to guess the agency or group name.

Support:

The Messaging Centre is provided by MTEL "fee free" to authorised users. It operates 24/7 though MTEL is not contractually obligated to maintain the service. Whilst every effort is made to operate this service, it runs on a "as is" basis and considered a non-essential service. If the author is experiencing problems with the website, please report the problem to the relevant Communications Centre for your region. The Communications Centre will then instigate a fault report to MTEL.

MTEL does not maintain direct support for the messaging centre however MTEL may contact the authors directly to diagnose any messaging problem.
