MTEL Connect APP
This policy has been changed to operate with the release of
MTEL Connect 2.5 for iPhone and 2.7 for Android
Update October 2022
MTEL Connect V2.0 Policy Statement
Your privacy is important to us. This policy is a
statement to our users of the MTEL Connect 2.5 APP for iPhone and MTEL
Connect 2.7 for Android
mobile phones. It is our commitment by MTEL Communications and its directors
and employees herein called "We" throughout this statement. All references
to APP in this statement relate to MTEL Connect.
Policy terminology
The APP connects to the MTEL Gateway and sends information based on user
input. This information is collected, filtered and passed to Queensland Fire
and Emergency Service communication centres.
In this policy "the connection" is the state of the APP
connecting to the MTEL Gateway and the transactions over that link. The
connection only exists to send a single packet to MTEL. No data is sent when
the APP is when the app is in the background.
In this policy "the registration of the mobile" is the
manual process of sending the mobile number and confirming with a pin. If
the state of the connection protocol is compromised the mobile will be
requested to re-register.
In this policy "the
location" is the coarse GPS location last used by the mobile.
The APP can disable the use of GPS location in settings. Disabled GPS
location is identified as "NoGPS".
In this policy "the
name" is the alias name registered by Queensland Fire and
Emergency Service assigned to the registered mobile number.
In this policy "data
storage" is the alias name registered by Queensland Fire and
Emergency Service assigned to the registered mobile number.
What information do we collect
"the registered mobile"
The mobile number registered by the user is sent
to MTEL to identify the user. This number is stored securely on the MTEL
servers. This number will never be used other than to identify the user.
We request the mobile number to be manually entered
into the App to register the number against a Queensland Fire and Emergency
Service list of
approved mobile users. The mobile users will only be current members of the
Queensland Fire and Emergency Service.
The mobile number may be associated to the type of user. Different types
of users may receive different information.
Mobiles numbers must be registered with the
Queensland Fire and Emergency Service.
Once the APP has registered the mobile against a database the only
information passed across the connection is the user selected response and
the alias name assigned to the mobile.
"the name"
The name is passed back only to the users
identified by Queensland Fire and Emergency Service as the group. Only
members in the group are sent all the names and GPS distance from the
station.
"data storage"
We collect , encrypt, store and maintain all transactions and logs over the connection for
maintenance, and debugging facilities. These transactions and logs remain the
property of MTEL Communications. If the communications centres require these
transactions they will be released upon written consent from manager of the
Queensland Fire and Emergency Service centre.
"the location"
We will collect GPS positional information relative to the emergency
services stations. We will use this information only to generate relative
positional information and convert the position to distance from the
station. We will never disclose the absolute position of the GPS.
What we will not do
We will not disclose the registered database of mobile users to any third
party.
We do not create any financial transactions over the connection.
We do not transmit data automatically to the mobile without the users
knowledge.
We do not query the mobile for any information unrelated to the APP.
We do not use any social media content or interfaces.
We do not use microphones or cameras devices on the mobile.
The app will not use data when in the background.
The app will not access the GPS location directly.
It does not use fine location data.
What we will do to maintain security
We use proprietary protocols across all connections. This ensures that
the global community will not be able to use common protocols to connect to
the MTEL Gateways.
Connections to
communications centres are maintained over VPN networks.
What are you rights
You have the right to deregister your mobile at any time by emailing your
request to support@mtelcom.net.au.
When you deregister your mobile number we will advise the communication
centre of your request.
What are you responsibilities
You are required to keep your mobile number accurate. If you change your
mobile number you must deregister your old mobile number.
The registration process is designed to identify the user as being real
and valid. You must not attempt to circumvent of mislead this process.
You must use the APP only during a valid notification. Use of the APP
outside these conditions will be recorded and collected and may lead to
deregistration of the mobile number.
When you travel outside of Australia
It is your responsibility to disable or deregister your mobile if you
travel overseas so that you do not receive unnecessary data which is charged
at much higher fees by overseas carriers.
