Press Releases 2016

November 2016

Mission Beach and Babinda were added to the WBB networks as a result of maintenance issues and upgrades to new sites.

October 2016

MTEL Connect V2.00 is currently under development following a lengthy 3 months development of the design documents.

It is expected to trial in house in November.

Woodford, Kilcoy, Dalby, Tara, Meandarra, Rosewood, Moura, and Stanthorpe were added to the WBB networks as a result of maintenance issues and upgrades to new sites.

In September the third party provider Maxon (they supply the VPN connections to all the wireless broadband picocells.) was purchased by telecommunications suppliers RF Industries. This is a good takeover with RFI being a major supplier in the Australian market for many decades. RFI have maintained the current operations and most of the staff from Maxon.

There was a small hic up in the changeover when services were accidentally disconnected in early October by Telstra in an administration mistake.

May 2016

MTEL Connect is now being trialed in 10 auxiliary stations around the state.

Feed back from these stations has provided the design considerations for MTEL Connect V2.00.

Morven, Kenilworth, Tieri, Mossman, Cardwell, Kuranda, Cairns South, Gordonvale, Cunnamulla  were added to the WBB networks as a result of maintenance issues and upgrades to new sites.

February 2016

Telstra WBB performance this month suffered its worst outage in 4 years. The VPN service provided by Maxon was disrupted by Telstra after a change to services in the Cloud over the weekend of the 6th and 7th February.  MTEL is aware of this dependence on Maxon to provide VPN services. We have been offered 24 hour support numbers for Maxon to circumvent major outages like this in the future.

MTEL has started testing the long awaited Auxiliary Acknowledgement system. Internal QFRS trials are currently been conducted on the system to check performance and acceptability of the system. Results of the test will be available after mid-March.
