The following information is provided as a guide to users of mobile phone
technology in relation to the use of the MTEL Connect app provided by MTEL
Communications..
The concepts explained should be consistent across most models of phones.
There are however many manufactures of mobile technology and even though the
mobile operating systems are on the same platforms the presentation of the
configuration will be dependent on the manufacturer.
This information is provided as an assistance to all levels of user
experience.
MTEL Communications uses Google Firebase products to deliver
Notifications to users registered to operate the MTEL Connect APP.
Notifications are created by MTEL during turnout events and packaged and
sent to Google who in turn locate all the user mobiles and deliver the
notification to alert the user.

Notifications work
Notifications from Google are preset with three different types of
alerting sounds.
These are silent, default, and preset.
MTEL does not use the silent notification.
The default is used for general information alerting.
The preset is used in turnouts. This sound is the same as the original
pager alert tones and is programmed in the Google Notification to operate at full volume.
However if the user decides to manually reduce the notification volume or
even mute it, this will override the notification preset volume.
If the user decides to incorporate the Do Not Disturb feature to reduce
notifications then the MTEL Connect notification will fail to alert the
user.
Later versions of mobiles have addressed this problem by allowing the
user to break the Do Not Disturb and mute functions with a
list of apps that are allowed to do so.
The user selects the apps from menus to allow a notification to alert the
user.
Both android (non-iPhone and iPhone) models can do this in the latter
versions.
On the left of this page are two buttons for the appropriate user. The
information pertains to mobile phone software versions that are at most 3 or
more years old.
If the information doesn't look like your mobile, then your operating
system is possibly too old and an update may be required.
Android models also have different manufactures such as Pixel and Samsung
etc. The presentation will be a little different between model manufactures,
however the basic concepts should be the same.
iPhone by comparison will look like the documentation, as there is just
one manufacturer.
